JHS Summer Reading

The Jacksonville High School English Department encourages students to become lifelong readers and learners. Research proves that it is crucial for students to have access to high quality, engaging texts in school and at home. Summer reading provides students this opportunity by enhancing their reading skills at a relaxed pace. Our philosophy is that summer reading broadens knowledge and understanding, facilitates personal and academic suchcess, and builds reading comprehension and vocabulary.

Novels may be purchased, borrowed, or downloaded to an app for reading. The Jacksonville Public Library and Books a Million may have copies for borrowing or purchasing. Another viable option for purchasing at a discounted price is thrift stores.
